“Evgenia’s playing captures nuances that make the music more vibrant and completely captivating. Her flawless voicing of melodies in both hands, her exquisite phrasing and her brilliant sense of harmonic direction are evident in everything she plays. In fact, she prefers playing “exposed” music, where there is nowhere to hide and all these elements can shimmer and speak to the audience.”

I am a Vancouver-based pianist, teacher, researcher, and lecturer. I am the co-founder and Artistic Director of the RR Academy of Music, and I recently completed my Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of British Columbia. I serve as Director of KIDS at Vancouver Piano Sessions and as a Piano Advisor to the Pacific International Youth Music Society.
My work focuses on guiding students toward more effective and sustainable performance through thoughtful, structured practice. My doctoral dissertation, Fostering Flow in Piano Performance through Effective Practice (2025) provides insight into effective practice approaches and techniques of professional-level piano performance students, linking the theory of deliberate practice to the theory of flow in performance. In 2024-2025, I conducted a study examining the practice behaviours of adolescent and young-adult classical pianists at professional or near-professional performance level through the lens of Mihali Csikszentmihalyi’s flow theory and the theory of deliberate practice proposed by K. Anders Ericsson, Ralf T. Krampe, and Clemens Tesch-Römer. This work has been deemed instrumental in helping educators synthesize preparation and performance, providing learning strategies that positively impact performance and foster joy on stage.
I enjoy a rewarding career as a pianist and teacher. In addition to piano, I teach theory, harmony, history, counterpoint, composition, and music literature. Through both my university teaching and private studio work, I have developed experience working with students of diverse backgrounds, skill levels, and goals. As co-founder and Artistic Director of the RR Academy of Music, I design courses and curricula, lead workshops, and guide students through structured programs in musicianship, including preparation for Royal Conservatory of Music examinations. My teaching is centered on helping students build strong technical foundations while developing independence, clarity in practice, and a deeper understanding of their musical work.
In my teaching, I seek to offer practical approaches that help students refine their practice while also supporting a more focused, meaningful, and positive experience in performance. A first place winner of numerous competitions, including the Canadian Music Competition, I am a summa cum laude graduate of the Mannes School of Music in NY (BMus, 2015) and the University of British Columbia (MMus, 2017; DMA 2025).
